Mungalli Creek Dairy

Last year we went to see Mungalli Creek Dairy, who supply us with the most delicious certified organic/biodynamic cheese, ricotta, yoghurt, and now ice cream.

They are in a world class location, Southern Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland, Australia.

Rob, co-founder, shared some new lines with us that they were going to launch soon - their high-protein yoghurt & lactose-free yoghurt, now in store.

Michelle, Rob's wife, then showed us the state of the art facility where they make all the biodynamic goods made out of the milk from their cows. Michelle drove us around the various expansive biodynamic paddocks to see unbelievable lush pasture & happy cows, something this time of the year in South Australia we can only dream of.

The Year 12 farmer who manages one of the nearby biodynamic farms gets up at 5:30am before school to milk the cows, and again in the afternoon at 4:30pm. Seeing her passion & joy of caring for cows was so infectious. Her younger sister was whistling a song in the distance on her quad bike, to gently guide the cows. We even got involved in helping milk a few cows. It was all just so wholesome.

The sun was starting to set, so we ended up setting up the camper in a nearby National Park rainforest. The moon was up, and we were surrounded by humongous ancient trees, tranquil birdsong, and frog croaks. In the morning, we hiked to the most incredible waterfall called Nandroya Falls.

Truly a magical experience, here is a little video to an short interview we did with Michelle.

Have you tried any Mungalli ice cream, cheeses, and yoghurts?

Right now we've been absolutely loving the Vanilla ice cream for dessert that we top with ripe, in-season biodynamic peaches or plums, such a simple pleasure. When we savour this ice-cream we always have such appreciation that we will never find an ice-cream as good as this out… they use real, simple, ingredients that deliver on flavour like nothing else.

Simple living is appreciating simple pleasures.
